Audubon Monocular PDF Print E-mail

I received my Audubon Monocular directly from one of the Audubon people at a trade show. I thought it might be fun to try, but it would be more of a novelty or a toy than a real tool. But after a couple weeks of carrying it around, I started to use it more often. I have now carried the monocular in my pocket daily for about ten years. The cloth case has a belt loop, but I have carried it in my pocket all this time and the case is showing a little wear and tear as would be expected after all this time.

I love having the ability to quickly grab it and look to see something six times closer. It can focus down to three feet, so I can even get a closer look at a bug on a flower without having to catch it. If I do have some thing in my hand to look at, I can use the old trick of turning the monocular around and looking in it backwards and seeing it really close up. If you look in a monocular or one side of a binocular backwards with the object only a half inch away, you can get a magnified view which can be good for getting out splinters.

It may only weigh 2 ounces, but it is not a feather weight in ability. This monocular makes a great tool for any outdoors person from a gardener to a birder. Since it is always with me, I have used it at the theater and at football games. I have carried it on many trips and don't have any trouble getting it through the airline security.

At a suggested retail or only $35 it makes a great gift. It is so small that it is easily carried in a pocket, purse or backpack pocket. It comes with a carrying case that has a belt loop and a neck strap. Check out this web site for details on where to buy the monocular.
