I love my Merrell boots. I have the Moab mid height version that has a Gore-Tex lining. My feet sweat and in all previous boots and most shoes, my feet get wet from the inside and then they get cold. The Merrell Moab boots have the breathable Gore-Tex lining, so the sweat gets out of the shoe and keeps my feet dry and warm. When I go out on cool mornings my feet don't get wet in the dew laden grass because the Gore-Tex lining is waterproof. As you can see in the pictures, I can wade in shallow water to get into my kayak or to get a better spot to take pictures without having to worry about my feet.
The only problem is that the lining doesn't go completely up to the top of the boot, so I am never sure just how far up the water can go without getting my feet wet.
These boots are very light weight and are very flexible. They feel like I am wearing a running shoe. They are so comfortable that I now have two pairs and I wear them to work and just about everywhere. I have worn them hiking on hilly terrain and on flat sidewalks and they have been supportive on both surfaces. They retail at about $100, but as much as I wear them and as long as the soles are lasting, I think they are worth it. They can be occasionally had for about $20 less on sale. |
