It works like the sensor in your home security lights. It senses movement and it releases a 3 second spray of water from the nozzle attached to your garden hose. The sudden noise, sudden movement and unpleasant splash of water all combine to scare the animal away. The device resets and waits for the animal to come back to get another safe shot of water.
